THE SPANISH FOLKLORE
Considering the cultural existing diversity, we can’t speak about a musical Spanish folklore, and the traditional musicians of each of the regions and areas of the state offer differentited characteristics.
In the folk Spanish music, it’s necessary to emphasize the jot, present in different forms along almost the whole territory of de state and the flamenco, the Spanish music most known abroad.
The folklore of the north of Spain (autonomous regions of Galicia y Asturias) is characterized by the bagpipes.
The sound of the bagpipes is very peculiar. It is a wind instrument.
The folklore of the south of Spain, Andalucia, is the flamenco. The flamenco is very popular in the whole world. There is a special clothing to dance flamenco.
Sevillanas, fandangos and rumbas are popular songs of flamenco. The typical instruments are the guitar, the palms, the Flemish box, the castanets
The folklore of Extremadura, where we live, isn’t as popular as the flamenco, but also it needs special clothings.
The jots are songs represented by dances, of this area.
